What are the advantages of being a Member?

Being a member enables you to use our facilities and equipment (following an Induction) in our wood, metal or craft areas. This also includes tea and coffee-making facilities in our new kitchen (with biscuits, and sometimes, a bacon or sausage butty as well!)

Our members are skilled in carpentry, metalwork and a variety of arts and crafts, including, knitting and crochet, painting and pyrography, felting and sewing. We are only too happy to help you with your project should you need a hand, or we can teach you new skills if you’d like to learn something new.

A selection of crafts by Shedders members

We hold a number of events throughout the year and a variety of workshops each month, all of which are taught by experienced experts. Most workshops include a minimal fee, depending on the content and materials involved. Non-members are still welcome to attend the workshops but may be charged a little more. Please see our Current Workshops and Events page for details of what’s going on over the next few months.

Accessibility

Shedders and Fixers is committed to providing access for all it’s members. Our metalwork shed has ramp access, our woodwork space has two lowered benches with a curved table and legs that are far enough apart to fit most wheelchairs. The craft space and kitchen have nice, wide sliding doors for easy access and the newly renovated kitchen has room for wheelchair users to fit under the sink and countertops (ideal for making a cup of tea!) Disabled toilet facilities are available at the Potting Shed Bar and Beer Garden which is next to the car park.

Disabled access at Shedders and Fixers

Whilst Shedders admit that more can always be done to be fully inclusive, we do what we can to meet the needs of all our members, regardless of their ability or disability.

Becoming a Member

To become a member, please visit us in person so we can show you around, discuss what crafts and skills you are interested in and what you might like to learn. We will then provide you with a form to complete and a Members Handbook containing all you need to know about Shedders and Fixers.

Our subscription is £7.50 per month or £75.00 per year and we can offer different payment methods, including, Bank Transfer and Standing Order, for your convenience.

Most of our workshops include a minimal fee on top but this depends on the content, materials involved and the length of the course or lesson. Non-members are still welcome to attend the workshops but you may be charged a little more (it’s always worth checking whether membership works out better value for you).
