Shedders and Fixers offer a wide range of workshops and events throughout the year. You can find details of what’s on here, or check out our Facebook Events page. You might want to take a look at our Past Workshops page as well. We hope to have some of these amazing classes back again soon so keep an eye on this page for more fun to come.

If you want to learn a new skill or try a craft you’ve perhaps never considered before, then Shedders is the place for you! You might even discover a talent you never knew you had!

Poster for the Wisbech Rose Fair: Walking Parade at 11am and 2pm. Come and see Shedders ‘chicken’ contributions and support the Wisbech Yarnbombers

Date/Time: Saturday, 27th June, 10:00-16:00. The Walking Parade will be held at 11:00 and 14:00 from St Peters Church Hall.
Venue: St Peter’s Church Hall, through the Market Place Square, and back to St Peter’s Church Hall

Additional Details: Shedders member, Sarah JP is an integral part of the Wisbech Yarnbombers who will be contributing to the theme at this year’s Rose Fair – Pirates, Robots and Chickens! Shedders have been assisting with creating a number of chickens, who are needed to protect Wisbech castle from an imminent invasion by pirates (and assuming, from the robots too!) There will be a walking parade at 11am and again at 2pm with the Rose Queen, themed entertainment, stalls, floral decorations and much more. Come and check out the fair and see if you can spot Shedders’ chicken contributions!

Poster: Design and create your own Junk Journal with recycled papers and mixed-media materials. Explore layering and simple binding techniques to create something truly unique — JUNK JOURNALING WORKSHOP: ***All places now filled***

Poster: To all disabled people, advocates and supporters. Join us at Wisbech Market Place, then for a Wheelchair/Walk around the square at 12pm and 1pm and help us highlight the lack of disabled access and facilities in Wisbech. We need more access to shops and businesses, more dropped kerbs and disabled toilets, an end to pavement parking, and much more! — WISBECH ACCESS GROUP EVENT: Supported by Shedders and Fixers

Poster: Learn basic metalwork techniques - How to cut and shape the metal, Add twist and curls to your design, Use simple welding techniques, Take home your own decorative bracket. Contact Shedders to secure your spot now! — METALWORK SKILLS COURSE: From 13th July

Additional Details: Join Mick, our own metalwork expert, and make a bracket for a hanging basket using a variety of metalwork techniques, from cutting, shaping, twisting and welding. All materials and PPE will be provided. The metalwork room can only accommodate 2 additional people at a time so contact us now to secure your place. Further workshops will be announced in due course so if you don’t get a space now, we can add you to the list for future courses.

Poster: We are tutors trained in Powertex which is a universal mixed-media paint, glue and fabric hardener. Powertex is water based in it's liquid form and non-toxic (having the highest American AP Safety label) so it won't irritate your skin. This is a beginners workshops being held at Shedders and Fixers. We will introduce you to the wonders of Powertex. You will be guided through the process of making an Owl plaque, Mushroom or Green Man plaque, with a choice of embellishments. All materials provided. It is advisable to wear old clothing as although Powertex is water soluble in it's liquid form, once dry it is there to stay. With this in mind it is advisable to remove jewellery and tie long hair back. Aprons and gloves are provided — POWERTEX WORKSHOP: 25th July

Poster: Basic Woodwork Skills for the Home: Learn the basics for a few simple home carpentry problems and then make your own picture frame! — BASIC WOOWORK SKILLS FOR THE HOME: **JULY (Date TBC)**

Date/Time: July (TBC) 13:30-14:30 (and every Monday for 5 weeks). The sessions may go on a little longer depending on those tips and tricks you need for easy fixes around the home and the complexity of your picture frame design.

Cost: £5 for Members / £10 for Non-Members. There may be a small charge for any additional materials but this will be communicated in advance.

Additional Details: You will learn how to cut, plane and creating precise angles, as well as adding grooves and bevelling into your frame. The course will incorporate the correct use any equipment (for example, drum sander, table saw, router) and the necessary health and safety checks required. PPE will also be provided.

Poster: Ready to get creative and learn a new skill that never goes out of style? Join us for a relaxed, hands-on, Back to Basics Sewing Workshop. Perfect for total beginners or anyone who wants to refresh their sewing skills. We'll be making a Thread Catcher, a Chicken-shaped Pin Cushion and a Scissors' Case that will safely hold up to 3-pairs of scissors. Come for the stitching, stay for the smiles. The perfect way to connect and create something beautiful! — BACK TO BASICS SEWING WORKSHOP: THREAD CATCHER, CHICKEN PINCUSHION & SCISSORS CASE

For a small and very reasonable fee, Viv will have a selection of fabrics available to purchase on the day, if you prefer. Future Workshops and Events – Watch this space!

We have a number of workshops and events almost ready to go. Once further details are confirmed we will be posting details right here so don’t go too far. This is what we know right now…

Basic Woodwork Skills for the Home: Our resident carpenter and woodwork expert, Mick O’Brien, is hoping to hold additional workshops in the near future. We’re waiting on a confirmed date in July at present. If you are interested, please contact Mick through our Facebook page and he will add you to the wait list. The course will be over 4-5 weeks again but dates and times to be confirmed. You will learn how to cut, plane and creating precise angles, as well as adding grooves and bevelling into a picture frame. The course will incorporate the correct use any required equipment (for example, the drum sander, table saw, router) and the necessary health and safety checks required. PPE will also be provided.
